Neda Koprcina falls in finals at ITA Texas Regional Championships

Second-seeded Blair Shankle of Baylor defeated Texas senior Neda Koprcina in the finals of the ITA Texas Regional Championships Monday in Waco.

Shankle won the first set 6-1, then blanked Koprcina 6-0 in the second set to earn a trip to the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships. Shankel also won the doubles final with teammate Elizabeth Profit.

Koprcina went 5-1 in singles play at the tournament and defeated two ranked opponents.


“This was an excellent tournament for her and will stand her in good stead for the more important moments that lie ahead this spring.” said Texas coach Howard Joffe.
