Who won it better? Texas in 2006 or Clemson in 2017

Posted January 10th, 2017

During last night’s telecast of the College Football National Championship Game, Kirk Herbstreit compared a Clemson fourth quarter touchdown to Vince Young’s “going for the corner” play in the 2006 BCS National Championship Game.

Herbstreit was already starting to connect the dots that maybe, 11 years later, the 2017 National Championship Game was topping what some, certainly most Texas fans, consider “the greatest college football game ever.”

So who won it better? Clemson taking down an Alabama team that had won 25 straight games with what some were calling “the greatest defense in college football history” or was it Texas, who beat a Southern California team that entered the game as the two-time defending national champions and winners of 34-straight with two Heisman Trophy winners in the backfield?
