Beau Hossler leads after first round in Web.com Tour debut

Posted February 16th, 2017

Former Longhorn golfer Beau Hossler shot a 64 in the first round of the Panama Claro Championship to sit in a tie for the lead in Panama City, Panama on Thursday.

Hossler was the only golfer to avoid a bogey in the first round as he made four birdies and an eagle in his Web.com Tour debut.

“It was a good start,” said Hossler. “I don’t think I chipped one time. Six-under is always good, keeping the bogeys off the card is even better.”

On the fourth hole of his round, Hossler made a 30-foot putt for an eagle to put him in a tie for first place.

The 21-year-old earned his first professional win on the Adams Pro Tour in December. He also finished in a tie for 49th place at the Farmers Insurance Open, a PGA Tour event.

“I want to win,” said Hossler. “Whether it’s here or a mini tour or the PGA Tour. When I show up to a tournament I want to give myself an opportunity to win. I feel like my game is good enough to do that, it’s just a matter of getting it done.”

Hossler has three rounds to go before he can claim a Web.com Tour win. He’s currently tied with Matt Atkins, Andrew Putnam and Adam Svensson.
