Top opponents for Texas in 2017, No. 21: USC RT Chuma Edoga

Posted August 12th, 2017

The countdown to kickoff is on. Over the 100 days before Texas takes on Maryland, we’re counting down the 100 best players the Longhorns will face in 2017. This series is all about impressing your friends at pregame tailgates and watch parties, so grab a notepad and buckle up.

Who is he?

For all the buzz surrounding USC entering 2017, there remains one glaring concern. The Trojans must replace three starting offensive linemen from last year’s squad. Luckily, a program like USC has players like Chuma Edoga stocked away. The 6-foot-4, 295-pound junior has four starts under his belt and an NFL frame, but to this point in his career he’s best known for a spat with an official that got him kicked out of a game against Utah State.

What should the Longhorns watch for?

USC is replacing both starting tackles and a guard. If Edoga can play to his potential, right tackle shouldn’t be a concern. Still, the offensive line is an area opponents might be able to exploit, especially early in the season as the group develops chemistry.
