About the series: This is the first meeting between the two schools. UT coach Shaka Smart is 1-0 in his career against New Hampshire. This is also a regional game in the PK80 tournament. The Longhorns will advance in the 16-team event and play in Portland, Ore., from Nov. 23-26.

About the Longhorns: Texas improved to 36-5 in home openers at the Erwin Center with an easy 105-59 decision over Northwestern State on Friday. The Horns have now won 16 straight home openers dating back to the 2001-02 season. In the win over the Demons, the Horns scored 28 points off turnovers and did not allow any. … G Eric Davis Jr. was limited on Friday with a groin injury. But he “should be full go” against New Hampshire, Smart said. He played nine minutes and was cleared to play more but was held out as a precaution. … Freshman Mo Bamba was named Big 12 newcomer of the week after getting 15 points and eight rebounds in the opener.

About the Wildcats: This is a homecoming of sorts for several New Hampshire players — Tanner Leissner (Converse Judson), Jacoby Armstrong (Wylie), Kijana Love (Cibolo Steele) and Jordan Reed (Lovejoy). … Leissner and Armstrong will be the first true test for UT’s Bamba and Osetkowski as a tandem. Leissner had 22 points and 14 rebounds in New Hampshire’s season-opening win over Wheelock. A career 46-percent shooter, Leissner lists his favorite athlete as Kevin Durant. … Armstrong, who redshirted last season, has been an all-conference pick in the America East.
