Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton will join Vic Schaefer's coaching staff at Texas, the school announced on Tuesday.

In addition to being the recruiting coordinator at UT, Wisdom-Hylton has been hired to coach post players like sophomore Aaliyah Moore and Oregon State transfer Taylor Jones. She replaces April Phillips, who became San Jose State's head coach this spring.

"Her experience as a collegiate player, professional player and as an assistant coach the past several years gives her instant credibility with our players," Schaefer said in a statement. "Her experience in coaching the post will be key for our inside game."

In the same press release, Wisdom-Hylton was quoted as saying that, "I'm so honored and humbled to have the opportunity to coach and help elevate the culture of Women’s Basketball at one of best institutions in the country. The University of Texas is a powerhouse and I am so excited to join the Longhorn family. I am extremely grateful to Coach Schaefer for giving me the opportunity to lead these exceptional young women to becoming not only elite athletes but amazing role models."

Wisdom-Hylton, 36, spent the 2021-22 season at Boston College. She has also coached at Wisconsin and Purdue.

Before she got into coaching, she was an all-conference forward at Purdue. She ranks second in the Boilermakers' record books in career rebounds and blocks. During the 2008-09 season, Wisdom-Hylton scored 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds in Purdue's nonconference win over Texas.

Wisdom-Hylton was later selected in the first round of the 2009 WNBA draft and played four seasons. She also played professionally in Austria, France, Greece and Israel.

Texas women's associate head coach Elena Lovato just can't quit the Longhorns — or Vic Schaefer

Schaefer has needed to hire three assistant coaches this offseason, and the addition of Wisdom-Hylton leaves one vacancy on the Longhorns' bench. Texas brought back Elena Lovato to replace Dionnah Jackson-Durrett in April.

Texas went 29-7 last season. In each of Schaefer's two years at UT, the Longhorns have reached the Elite Eight round of the NCAA Tournament.
