The Texas football team landed a commitment from 2025 four-star linebacker Elijah Bo Barnes on Friday. The Dallas native, who will enter his final year at Skyline High School in the fall, visited Austin last weekend and met with coach Steve Sarkisian.

Barnes, who is 6 feet 2 and 215 pounds, chose the Longhorns over Ohio State, Oregon and Alabama. He's the nation's No. 98 overall prospect and No. 13 linebacker in the 2025 cycle, according to 247Sports' composite rankings.

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian has rounded up six pledges in the 2025 class, and all are four-star prospects.

“It was a lot of good things at Texas. I really enjoyed it down there like I always do,” Barnes told On3 in January. “Talking to coach (Johnny) Nansen was great. He knows what he’s doing, and he knows a lot about the game, and he can teach you a lot about the game of football. I liked how he’s a real genuine guy, a cool guy, down-to-earth guy, and that was cool talking to him and Sark.”

Barnes is Texas' sixth pledge for the 2025 recruiting class, which ranks 14th in the country. All six players are four-star prospects. In 2024, the Longhorns finished with the sixth-ranked recruiting class.

Texas' spring drills will conclude with the Orange-White game April 20.
