Four Texas exes were set for induction into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday, with the class being highlighted by Longhorn football greats Jamaal Charles and Colt McCoy. Former track and field coach Bubba Thornton and former softball pitcher Christa Williams rounded out the UT honorees.

Other inductees in the 2024 class were National Baseball Hall of Famer Andy Cooper, Texas Baseball Hall of Fame (2006) and Houston Astros Hall of Fame (2021) inductee "Judge" Roy Hofheinz, former Prairie View A&M track and field coach Barbara Jacket, former Texas Tech football coach Mike Leach and former Texas A&M football coach Jackie Sherrill.

Colt McCoy and Jamaal Charles were to be inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday. They were crucial to Texas football's run of dominance from 2005 to 2010.

McCoy is one of the greatest quarterbacks in Texas football history, leading UT to a 12-1 record in 2008 and a 13-1 record in 2009. The Longhorns' last appearance in the national championship game came in the 2009 seaon, but McCoy was injured in the first quarter of a loss to Alabama. As a professional, he was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2010 NFL draft and played for 13 seasons, mostly as a backup.

Charles was also a key part of Texas' dominance in the 2000s. He played in 38 games from 2005 to 2007 and was a part of the Longhorns' national championship team in 2005. He finished his college career with 3,328 rushing yards and 36 touchdowns, both of which rank fifth in school history.

Charles' NFL career was even more impressive, as he cemented himself as one of the best running backs in the history of the game. Drafted 73rd overall in 2008 by Kansas City, he became a four-time Pro Bowler and a three-time All-Pro selection. He retired in 2019 as the Chiefs' all-time leading rusher with 7,260 yards.
