Texas running back Savion Red has entered the transfer portal, per his agents at A&P Sports Agency. The 5-foot-10, 240 pound junior will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Red was part of the Longhorns' backfield in 2023-24 but saw limited snaps, mostly on Wildcat formations and fourth down plays. Last season he played in 12 games and collected 131 yards and a touchdown on 30 attempts. His unique role also saw him throw a 25-yard pass on fourth down to Gunnar Helm against Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry.

Texas running back Savion Red evades a tackler during Saturday's Orange-White spring game at Royal-Memorial Stadium. Used primarily in Texas' wildcat formation last season, Red has entered the transfer portal.

While he was used sparingly at the beginning of the season, Red saw his touches decrease in the back half of the year as Sarkisian went away from the Wildcat package. He saw the ball in blowout wins vs. Texas Tech and Oklahoma State, but he didn't get a single rush versus Iowa State and Washington, the most competitive late season games Texas played.

He was part of Texas' 2022 recruiting class as a three-star wide receiver from Grand Prairie High School in the Dallas area. Red also participated in UT's Orange-White spring game as a part of the Orange team.
