Texas defensive back Austin Jordan entered the transfer portal Wednesday, a day after fellow DB Terrance Brooks also announced his intentions to go into the portal.

Jordan will be entering his junior year after playing 13 games in 2022 and 12 games in 2023. In those seasons, he had 11 total tackles, one interception and one pass defended.

Defensive back Austin Jordan became the latest Longhorn to announce he's headed into the transfer portal. He'll be a junior this fall and has seen action in 25 games over the past two seasons.

At 6 feet and 206 pounds, Jordan arrived at Texas from Denton Ryan High School rated by 247sports as a four-star recruit. But he was never able to find a consistent role with the Longhorns, and with him in the portal, Texas is now at 82 scholarships, three below the FBS maximum of 85.

Texas now must find secondary players to replace Jordan, Brooks and potential NFL draftee Ryan Watts before the 2024 season kicks off with a home game against Colorado State on Aug. 31.  One potential option is Colorado's Cormani McClain, who has reportedly heard from Texas since he's entered the portal.
