Texas softball team opens series with rout of Baylor

Outfielder Ashton Maloney had three of the Longhorns' 16 hits Friday in a 14-1 win at Baylor. The Big 12 softball series resumed Saturday in Austin.

Texas exploded for nine runs in the top of the sixth inning in a 14-1 rout of Baylor in the first of a three-game softball series Friday in Waco.

The series resumed Saturday at McCombs Field in Austin and will finish there with a 1 p.m. game Sunday.

Ashton Maloney had three of Texas' 16 hits in the Longhorns' biggest win over Baylor in series history.

Texas (33-6, 12-4 Big 12), ranked No. 2 in the latest USA Today/NFCA poll, is tied with Oklahoma State for second place in the Big 12 standings, a game in back of Oklahoma. Baylor (22-15, 5-11) has yet to win a road game in the Big 12.
